Art Show

“But I Know What I Like”
October 8 through November 19

The Davis Family YMCA is hosting its fifth annual juried art show in conjunction with National YMCA Arts Month.

“But I Know What I Like” is open to any adult, amateur or professional artist within a 40 mile radius. The twist is that it is judged by non-experts, as in “I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like!”

Many of the pieces of art are available for purchase. A portion of all proceeds will benefit The YMCA’s Annual Campaign.

For more information about this show, or about the YMCA’s Art and Humanities program, please contact Suzanne Gray at or call 330-480-5656.

YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program

If you have been diagnosed with prediabetes, or believe you may be at risk for developing the disease, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you develop a healthier lifestyle and work with you to reduce the risks this condition can pose to your health.

To see if you are eligible for the 12-month program, go through the checklist on the Can I Participate? form. Based on effective efforts researched by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program will help you learn about and adopt the healthy eating and physical activity habits that have been proven to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Through the program, you will receive support and encouragement from both a trained lifestyle coach and fellow classmates as you develop a plan for improving and maintaining your overall well-being. Classes are held at both the Central and Davis Family YMCAs.

Contact Loretta Pflug at or 330.480.5656 x236 for more information.

My Y is now EVERY Y in Ohio

The Y movement is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace or in another region.

Now, full facility/full privilege YMCA members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout Ohio, at no extra charge.
