While individual sports and activities help develop personal and physical skills, there is nothing like the interaction of team sports such as basketball, soccer and T-ball to develop cooperation, strategy and sportsmanship. YMCA sports leagues offer a low-pressure, high-participation opportunity to develop these skills. The “bench” is one position no one has to play at the Y.

Summer Youth Basketball Camps

Guards and Post Position Camp

June 19-22, 9 am-12:30 pm (Boys & Girls entering grades 3-8) This Camp focuses specifically on teaching campers the responsibilities of all five positions. Half-court and full-court drills are utilized.

This camp is suited for all skill levels.

Shooters Touch Camp

June 19-22, 1-4:30 pm (Boys & Girls entering grades 3-8) Camp includes highly organized drills that focus on a camper’s offensive skills. Coaches teach proper shooting mechanics. as well as provide game-like offensive drills to motivate the players to improve their practice intensity.

This camp is suited for all skill levels.

Fundamental Skills Basketball Camp

July 10-14 (Boys & Girls ages 5-12) This Camp has a positive and uptempo atmosphere in which to improve camper fundamentals while having fun and making new friends. Coaches will also help participants build confidence and stress good sportsmanship.

This camp offers a half-day (9 am-12 pm) or a full-day (9 am-4:30 pm) option and is suited for all skill levels.

Jr Cavs Summer “Quick” Youth Basketball League

July 15-August 19 (Boys & Girls ages 4 to 15)

We are partnering with the 2016 NBA World Champion Cleveland Cavaliers’ Junior Cavs program that includes some great perks. This Co-Ed league consists of 2 practices and 4 Saturdays of games. We maximize the positive effects of playing sports by emphasizing healthy competition, promoting teamwork and individual development.

Practices are July 15 & 22. Games are July 29, August 5, 12 & 19. The registration deadline is Saturday, July 9. Practices and games are scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm for 1 hour in length.

Youth Volleyball Clinic Series

July 25-28 (All Skill Levels ages 9 to 17) This four-day clinic for beginner through intermediate players ages 9-17 designed to build and improve fundamental skills. Sign up by the clinic or all four for a discounted fee. The program will be led by Mineral Ridge’s Varsity Coach, Joey DeLisio, and JV Coach, Nicole Luklan, as well as Varsity Players.

Indoor Soccer League

August 26-October 7 (Boys & Girls ages 3 to 7) Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, and shooting or have a chance to fine-tune their skills. The league promotes exercise through sport and social interaction.

Practices are August 26 & September 2. Games are September 9, 16, 23, 30 & October 7. Registration deadline is Saturday, August 19 at 4 pm. Practices and games are scheduled between 9 am and 3 pm for 1 hour in length.
