Come join the YMCA team as a Lifeguard! The Central YMCA in downtown Youngstown has openings for lifeguards. A YMCA lifeguard monitors pool activities and ensures member safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. To help prevent incidents, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by the YMCA. To ensure safety, lifeguards must remain alert throughout an entire shift. To gain a YMCA lifeguard job, applicant must hold Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications. All YMCA lifeguards receive a free YMCA membership, schedule flexibility and free uniforms.

Summer Camp Counselors

Come join the YMCA team as a Camp Counselor! The Central YMCA Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. They are responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. The incumbent will provide high quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have previous experience working with children in group setting.

All YMCA counselors receive a free YMCA membership, schedule flexibility, and free uniforms.

The Davis Family YMCA is accepting applications for summer Lifeguard and Swim Instructor positions.

  • Lifeguard applicants must be at least 16 years old and have current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • Swim Instructor applicants must also be at least 16 years old, enthusiastic, and enjoy working with children.

Our summer season runs May 27-September 4, 2017, although there are often opportunities to work year-round. If you want a rewarding job this summer, the Davis Family YMCA is the place to be!

Volunteer Opening – Counselor Apprentice

Davis Family YMCA Day Camp Counselor Apprentice. Do you have what it takes to be a camp counselor? Being a CA will help you on your way! We are looking for volunteers ages 14-17 for our Day Camp. Our CA Coordinators will teach them group learning leadership skills and planning activities. Parts of their days will also be spent shadowing a counselor and helping to lead a group of younger campers. Your CA Coordinator will evaluate you each week and give encouraging feedback. Each week the CAs will plan and execute a camp lesson. Must attend trainings with camp staff.

This program has a fee of $50 for the summer which pays for camp shirts and name tag.
