What's Coming Up Branch-wide

Ice Skating!

The Y and the Ice Zone in Boardman are partnering to add a new dimension to your membership. Every Sunday from now through April, YMCA members can skate for FREE from 2-4 pm at the Ice Zone. This includes skate rental. Just present your key fob to Ice Zone staff and sign in.

Pickleball

Pickleball Beginning April 2 we are starting a NEW program - PICKLEBALL!

A mix of badminton, ping pong and tennis, Pickleball is a great activity for ALL ages. Courts will be set up in the Community Gym on Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings. There is no fee for YMCA members. Nonmembers can play a session for $6 or sign up for 10 sessions for $50.

Good Friday Breakfast

As one of the largest events organized by the YMCA's Spiritual Emphasis Committee, the Good Friday Breakfast gathers the community downtown to celebrate the Easter season and features some of the most prominent pastors, teachers and musicians from the Youngstown/Warren area.

This year is no exception as Father Greg Maturi will give this year's message. The program also includes soloist Joselyn Parker, the Y's very own Youth & Teen Director. The meal will be catered by Jorgine's Deli.

Tickets for the Good Friday Breakfast are $12 each or $85 for a table of eight. Reservations and prepayment are required. Tickets may be purchased from Patty Tchoryk in the Metro Office (330-742-4781) or from any member of the Spiritual Emphasis Committee. Please make checks payable to The YMCA of Youngstown, and be sure to include your phone number and email address to verify your reservation. Tables and tickets will be reserved on a first paid basis.


Future Fitness Club

Get Active!

March 3 - April 11

The Central Y will be starting up a new session on April 21 for kids ages 7 to 18 in partnership with Akron Children's Hospital to address the childhood obesity epidemic. Future Fitness Club promotes healthy fitness and eating habits and safe, gradual weight loss through fun, non-competitive activities.

This program is FREE to students who qualify as overweight (BMI at or above the 85th percentile), or have pre-, type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Interested students should see their doctor or school nurse for a referral form. This form MUST be presented in order to register.

Class meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (swim day) from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Memorial 5

The Memorial 5 race is coming up soon! Register online or pick up a registration form at Central Y, Davis Family Y or at Second Sole.

The 5 mile race begins at 9:00 am. The Kids Race begins at 8:30 am.

YMCA Cycling Club

The Central YMCA is partnering with Frankford Bicycle in Girard on a new endeavor - the YMCA Cycling Club.

For a $70 membership fee ($120 for non Y members), Club members receive a lot of perks. To begin, Spinning at the Central Y from February through May is included along with discounts at Frankford Bicycle. There will be two cycling clinics, outdoor club rides May through September and a special price on a Frankford/YMCA cycling jersey.

Youth Leagues & Clinics

Leagues are a big thing at the Y. Whether your child is interested in Soccer, Tee Ball, Flag Football or Basketball (or ALL of the above!), we have a place for them! Check out our Leagues page for more information

Currently, Saturdays and Sundays our gyms are filled with participants in the Youth Winter Fundamental and "Select" Basketball Leagues.

Offschool Camp

Monday-Thursday, April 14-17, 9:00 am-4:00 pm

What better way is there to spend Spring Break than at the Y?

We'll hang at the Y on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, but on Wednesday the 16th, we are off to Pittsburgh to visit the Carnegie Science Center (there is a $30 trip fee). Be sure to sign up early for the TRIP day as registration ends at 10:00 pm Tuesday the 15th.

Healthy Kids Day

Saturday, April 26, 1-4 pm

The Davis Family Y is holding a FREE community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active. YMCA's Healthy Kids Day®, the Y's national initiative to improve families' health and well-being, features games, arts and crafts, pool safety, Camp Fitch experiences, numerous local kid and health oriented vendors and more to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home.

YMCA's Healthy Kids Day, celebrated at nearly 1,600 Ys across the country, aims to get more kids moving and learning, so they can keep up the habit all summer long.


Parent's Night Out

Saturday, May 17, 4:00-8:00 p.m.

You can enjoy the evening out while we entertain the kids (ages 3 months - 12 yrs). We will be playing games, making crafts and swimming (ages 6 and up). The kids will have dinner and a movie, as well.
